GENERAL INFORMATION FOR
DANCETIME STUDENTS
1. DANCE FEES: One hour classs - $54.00 per month. One and a half hour classes- $60.00 per month. 30 minute classes are $44.00 per month. Dance fees must be paid before a student can perform in any show. Missed classes cannot be made up or pro-rated off the next month's dance fees. Checks returned from bank will be subject to a $40.00 service fee. The total amount is due even if a student is absent. Students are dropped from the class after the 15th if the monthly payment has not been paid unless prior arrangements have been made.
2. FAMILY DISCOUNTS: The third class a student takes or a third family member taking classes receives a family discount. The third class (or more) is half price.
3. EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT: Dance fees are due on the first of each month. All payments made before the 8th of each month will receive $10 off of each class.
4. HOLDING FEE: If a student is going to be absent for the whole month, a holding fee will be required in order to hold that place in class for her/him. The holding fee is half of the amount of the student's class fee(s)and must be paid in advance.
5. RE-INSTATEMENT FEE: If a student misses more than one month and wants to be re-admitted to his/her class, they will have to pay a re-instatement fee. The fee is $70.00 as of July 1, 2009. A re-instatement fee will be required by any student who re-enters class within a year.
6. DANCEWEAR: Dancewear must be worn in all dance classes. We do not require a specific color or style body suit. Dance tights, leggings, or bicycle shorts may be worn in jazz classes. Dancers must wear appropriate clothing to class in order to stretch and move with agility. Students will not be able to attend class wearing jeans, cutoffs, oversized t-shirts, or clothing that might damage the floor or injure themselves.
7. REQUIRED DANCEWEAR FOR BALLET: Starting July1, 1999, Dancetime will require certain color leotards as costuming or to be worn to upper level classes.
Please note the following:
3 to 8 years – Pink leotards and pink tights for shows
9 yrs. and up – Black leotards and pink tights for classes and shows. Pointe classes must have black ballet skirt. All hair must be pinned up off of neck.
8. SHOES: Dancers need to have black tap shoes for tap. Basic flat tap shoes are $18.00. Character heel tap shoes run $38. To $50.00. Oxford tap shoes run $48 to $65.00. Boys tap shoes are $28.00. Ballet shoes must be pink and leather. A basic ballet shoe costs $15.00. Split sole ballet shoes run $20 to $30.00. Pointe shoes can cost $50.00 and up (that includes ribbon and elastic). Jazz shoes must be black unless specified differently by you instructor. A basic jazz shoe costs $25. 00. Split sole jazz oxfords run $29.00 to $45.00. Jazz tennis shoes run $67.00. We have some shoes for sale. You can buy ballet and tap shoes from Payless shoes, and Candance dancewear (by High Steppers dance studio). Some stores can be expensive so please call and compare prices. You can also order online from Discount Dance. If a shoe has to be reordered, there will be a $3.00 charge. Orders are taken weekly but can take up to 7 to 15 days for delivery (sometimes longer if back ordered).
9. HAIR: Hair must be worn back away from eyes and face. Ballet: All hair should be secured or fastened. Tap and jazz: All or sides of hair must be tied back and secured.
10. NO FOOD OR DRINK ALLOWED INSIDE STUDIO, INCLUDING GUM! There is water available in studio.
11. PERSONAL BELONGINGS: Dance bags, shoes, and personal belongings must be placed in cubbies, out of the way of traffic. Please keep walkways and furniture clear of clutter for safety reasons.
12. PARENTS/VISITORS: Parents and visitors are welcome to come and watch any class. All studios have viewing windows and/or T.V. monitors. We ask that you keep the noise down so not to disturb any class. Parents are not allowed in dance room unless asked by instructor. Parents are responsible for their small children and must keep them in control at all times. They are not allowed to crawl on furniture or make excessive noises. Children must be escorted to restrooms by an adult. We ask that you do not loiter in the hallways and that desk chairs stay at the desk for our staff to use during work hours. Please do not use literature as drawing paper. Our instructors spend a lot of time and money on these notes and should be available to our students. Please do not interrupt classes in session unless it is an emergency.
13. STUDIO VACATION : The studio is closed 2 weeks of the year; 1 week during Christmas vacation and 1 week after our spring recital (June). We use this time for maintenance.
14. INSTRUCTOR'S PERSONAL LEAVE: There are 4 classes for each paid month. Those months with extra classes will be applied to vacation time or personal leave. If there is some other reason a teacher has to cancel a class, you will be notified about a make up class or you will be given a credit on your next month's class.
15. TARDINESS: Please try to be on time. Interrupted classes can be time consuming and embarrassing. No student will be allowed in class if more than 20 minutes late. Pointe students must arrive 15 minutes early in order to have plenty of time to put on
toe shoes.
16. SHOWS/COSTUMES: Dancetime is asked to perform for various functions all year long. Teachers will inform students with written notices of when, where, time, and what to wear. Costumes will be ordered before Christmas break. Costume deposit fees are due by December 1st and the balance must be paid by February 1st. Costumes usually run $50. to $100.00 depending on size and accessories included.
Deposits are as follows: Children and adult sizes - $40.00
Dance productions, dance teams, and competitive teams usually have extra costs. All shows are optional. Instructors do not get paid to attend a performance. Performances and performers are left solely up to the instructor. Dance students must attend classes in order to perform in any show. It is mandatory for a dancer to be in class the week before a show so that the instructor can set her line up.
17. RECITAL: All students are encouraged to perform in the dance recital, which is held at the performing arts center at Victor Valley College and is usually scheduled the last week of June. It is optional. Tickets usually go on sale May 1. Dress rehearsal is mandatory in order to perform and all past due fees must be paid prior to show.
18. Dancetime Studio is always looking for volunteers. Please let us know if you can
help in the following areas:
a. Building, painting, or designing sets, props, or other items for shows.
b. Sewing or assembling costumes.
c. Fundraising for competition or traveling expenses for shows.
d. Program advertisement
e. Other

You can buy ballet and tap shoes from Payless shoes, Walmart, and Candance dancewear which is by High Steppers dance studio on Hesperia road. Some stores can be expensive so please call and compare prices.
